County Purchases Land for New School in Odenton
The Anne Arundel County Council has unanimously passed Resolution 3-20 to allow the county to purchase a 37.5-acre plot of land in Odenton to build a new elementary school in the near future.
The land is located at 1127 Bragers Road, and is located next to the fast-growing Odenton community of Two Rivers. “Bragers Road” is no longer a public street, as it has largely been replaced by the WB&A trail, although there are several parcels of land that officially have a Bragers Road address.
A new elementary school was much-needed in west county, as schools in the area were projected to be well over capacity within five years.
The land purchase is also a major victory for Odenton’s county councilman Andrew Pruski, who has been working to ensure that schools and other infrastructure in west county keep up with the fast pace of development. The construction of a school in this area would also significantly decrease the chances that a controversial landfill proposed for this part of Odenton will be approved.
